Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Philippians 2:3
What it means to me: Ya’ll. We all need a little more of this. Instead of doing that tiny malicious, maybe spiteful, perhaps passive aggressive action because it may make us feel better… how about we respond with selfless love? Do you ever actually feel better? I guarantee you, not! I see too many people going to the EXTRA (yes, these actions take MORE) effort in order to “get back”, “get even”, “hurt them because they hurt me” or even because of downright jealously. Have you ever heard the phrase..”Hurt people hurt people?” Don’t be that person! It isn’t always about us. We all know what it feels like to see actions done for wrong reasons, so don’t do it yourself! Keep your words, actions and thoughts in check by looking up. I love giving gifts and too often people don’t respond in the way I would have desired. God is constantly reminding me, I did not give that gift for the glory of myself but for the glory of GOD. So what do I do? I keep doing it!
Up for the challenge? If you ever feel like someone is juggling too much (and may even be grouchy toward you because of it) simply suggest you can take an item off their list. Take time out of your day or perhaps even change your “fun plans” to help. Instead of responding with, wow you just made “ME” feel bad, respond with love. I would love to hear your stories!
Prayer: Lord I lift up my actions to you and pray for pureness in my heart, words and actions. I pray that I stop only seeing what is in my favor and concentrate more on what is in YOUR favor. If I can do that, Lord, my actions will be selfless and with love. Help me remove that devil from my shoulder and replace it with you. Amen.
