You who fear THE LORD, trust in the Lord: He is their help and their shield. Psalm 115:11
What it means: We have all had those “Sunday scaries.” Especially after a fun weekend or a trip where you took off work. That gut sinking feeling of going back into reality sneaks up and then bites you quickly. My husband and I kind of had that feeling after returning from an amazing trip with family this past weekend. As we sat there trying to break it down and make to do lists, the next song on the radio came on about only fearing the Lord. Ya’ll, it is so easy to fear work, our boss, our life, our next step, our health, our body image, our parents, our safety etc. All this really does is strip our confidence and trust in the Lord. He is the only person we need to fear. It is such a calming feeling to know we don’t have to carry those burdens and can release it all to him! After hearing the song and talking it through, we felt so much lighter!! We realized we still had 5-6 hours left of vacation! Why ruin that time? Don’t let the “Sunday scaries” strip you of your joy from today. Live in the moment of now and enjoy it and it will help you minimize your fear more and more!
Side note: I feel like I had to put a small side note in here when I am telling you to walk into work and not worry. I am not saying simply pray and walk into work late. I am not saying simply pray and walk into work without putting your best effort in. I am not saying simply pray and tell your boss you don’t fear him. I am saying… SIMPLY PRAY, work hard, learn what you can, do what you can, be a kind person and set your other fears away.
Prayer: Lord we thank you for your everlasting love for us. We thank you for carrying our burdens and forgiving us of our sins. Lord it is so easy for us to hold it all in and try to control our life fearing everything else but you. I pray that we stop doing that and fear you. I pray that we can release our fear of tomorrow and live for today. Lord please work in me to help those around me to see this as well. Amen.
