I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:1-11
What it means: We have the GRACE of the Lord! That, I guarantee you, is the BEST news you will hear today. There is nothing better than knowing we are saved by Jesus. We are sinners by nature. The trick is, do we know our sins? Do we know when we have evil in our hearts? Do we know when we hurt others intentionally? Do we know when we do wrong just to be seen as RIGHT in a situation? It is very difficult. In order to confess our sins, we have to acknowledge our sins. We have to WANT and desire to be more pure. I am FAR from perfect. I sin, you sin, we all sin! I try very hard every day to be aware of how I treat others, how I pray and how I react to hard situations. No, I don’t always do it correctly. I think the trick here is when you sin to not just ask for forgiveness. But to change our character! A bad/wrongful action is different than your reoccurring character being sinful. In order to do that, you have to pray for not only forgiveness but to help you from sinning again! To truly learn that you did wrong and to correct it next time. It is when you choose over and over the wrong action/words/thoughts that it is your sinful character becomes who you are. I think there are MANY Christians that play by the law and not by the heart and this hurts our reputation to non believers thinking we are all hypocrites. You can follow the law of the bible and not have a relationship and be a full blown sinner and mean person! I read in the bible recently, Romans 7:7, that the REASON for the law was to show us our sins! How incredible is that? Even the law isn’t mean’t to be our religion. It is all about your relationship with the Lord! I am in constant communication with him asking for help in places I struggle and trying my hardest to be better each day. If you do this, then the guilt of doing wrong will come naturally because you will know you are becoming a better person! If you have a guilt staying on your heart after asking for forgiveness, ask yourself….am I being pure in this? Is there a reason I still feel bad? If so, continue to pray!
Challenge: Next time you feel that sinful nature coming on, reject it. Pray for forgiveness and listen to his guidance! Then be free! What is your reoccurring sin? How can you manage this and start changing it? PRAYER! Confess for your sins and be completely open to letting him work in you. But the key part is to WANT to better yourself. I confess my sins every single day. Even if its a hateful thought. Try it! You will start noticing your wrongful actions more and more and be able to start recovering!
Prayer: Lord thank you for your Grace for forgiveness. I pray that we come wholeheartedly to you in our sins. I pray for our guilt to be lifted and we become closer to pure as can be!
