Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.1 Peter 5:6-8
What it means: I always try to remind myself that while Jesus craves our love, the Devil craves our attention. He will whisper lies that we are not good enough or that someone doesn’t deserve our love or that we should be angry. It is very hard to be aware of this, especially in modern day, where we’re told we have every right to be mad at every reason that we choose. This isn’t true. We have every right to love and to reject this enemy that prowls on our good hearts. When I am upset or heck even pmsing, I imagine the devil on my shoulder trying to get me over to his side. Once I realize it, I sometimes physically flick him off my shoulder and say you do not have power over me. I pray hard to Jesus to relieve me of this enemy and to fill my heart with love. I start to look at the challenge differently and remind myself, was I listening to the enemy? Is this even what I thought it was? Were my intentions coming from the right place or was I listening to my enemy? Love overcomes all, so if your heart is filled with love, the enemy doesn’t stand a chance.
Who is on your shoulder leading your intentions? The enemy of negativity? Or the Lord of all that is good, righteous and filled with love?
Challenge: My challenge for you today is to take a minute to flip through your life quietly. Where is the enemy lurking? Find waldo (or the Devil) in your picture of life and be very aware of it!! Try to open your heart to the love of Jesus in efforts to reject the enemy in this part of your life. You may be thinking… I am happy, I have no drama, No one is ill, I’m happy so the enemy doesn’t lurk on my heart because I love Jesus so much. But guess what? Hes, there… He’s waiting for the perfect time…He’s craving your attention… Try not to be ignorant of him luring you into his depths below. Whenever I find the Devil lurking, telling me lies, or standing on my shoulder leading my intentions… I pray a similar prayer below. I read recently that the view of Satan and Jesus as opposing enemies is a completely false image. The truth is that there is no enemy to God and definitely no one equal to a “fight of power”. Even Satan has to bow down at the altar. That is how powerful the Lord is and how great his love is. Isn’t that incredible? We don’t have to let the enemy have power over us when he is so small to God. So, don’t let the wrong person take over your heart or intentions. Just remember how powerful God is.
Prayer: I thank you for loving me. I thank you for the good in my heart from you. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, any negativity in my heart to leave. I pray for Satan to be vanished from my life and have no power over me or my actions. I pray for your love, Jesus to consume me from head to toe. Your love is enough and all I need. I pray when times are difficult I listen to you and not the lies of Satan. In your name I pray, Amen.
Sending Love, Stacy
